Pastor Aubrey Toup is originally from St. Cloud, Florida –a quaint little town, about an hour away from Orlando. She is the daughter of Dezirae and Bill Toup. As an only child, she valued the comradery of her peers, which she experienced during her nine-year stint as a Girl Scout. From ages six through fifteen, she gleaned invaluable skills as a scout that not only prepared her for leadership, team-building and community service, but also helped her to become the morally sound woman she is today.
When she was thirteen years old, she started asking questions about God. At fourteen she joined a choir at Kissimmee Seventh-day Adventist Church. She also began studying the bible and developing her own relationship with God. At age fifteen, she got baptized and became more immersed in church service. She taught sabbath school, led out in Adventist Youth Society (AYS) and other ministries.
Although she felt the call to pastoral ministry at age fifteen, she straddled precariously on a fence of indecision until her freshman year of college. “I really wanted to teach music and didn’t want to pastor,” she said, “But, God convicted my heart, and over the course of 3 years, really worked on me and got me to the point where I could surrender my desires and my will to Him, thus choosing to become a pastor. And once I chose it, I fell in love and never looked back!”
In 2015, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology from Southern Adventist University; then, she went on to pastor at Ooltewah Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tennessee, where she served as the Children and Youth Pastor for 2 years. In 2017, she moved to Berrien Springs, Michigan and attended Andrews University. In May of this year, she graduated from the Seminary with a Masters of Divinity.
Pastor Toup is enthusiastic about her assignment as the Associate Pastor of Stone Mountain Seventh-day Adventist Church. She loves to laugh and enjoys interacting with others. As a result of the pandemic, Pastor Toup is unable to meet with members face-to-face, but plans to reach out to them by phone, to introduce herself and pray with them.
In her spare time, she paints, makes cards and other crafts. She also enjoys cooking, stargazing and basking in the warmth of the sun. Welcome Pastor Toup!
